Chapter Goals:

The problems we faced when this chapter was written have remained constant in many respects, but have also manifested themselves in a few surprising ways.  I look forward to seeing reader/writer input!

Remember, per the FAQ, the aim of this project is not to write a "new" book. It is to update the old. That means while there are lots of ways to redo or extend the book, we're focussing on correcting errors, updating material, and supplementing where absolutely necessary only.

We are not trying to change the book's central arguments, but instead take a hard look at the examples and secondary arguments that support Code's major theses. We aim to research any recent developments relating to examples given in the book; find better, more contemporary examples; and increase overall clarity. Material should be added and subtracted mostly in that context.
