The "Ugly" example reminded me of something I witnessed on a different "net" more than 20 years ago. It was 1982 and I was a soldier in the Israeli army in Lebanon. There was, like in every army, a network of phones, that were operated using manual switchboard. Of course, back then, the soldiers were young men, and the switchboard operators at HQ were young women. Soldiers were using that telephone network to find an operator in one of the commands HQ willing to dial home for them. But they were also flirting with the girls. We had in our HQ one switchboard operator with a very sexy voice, and soldiers from everywhrer were calling her all the time. What they didn't know was that she looked quite like Big Bird.
