Discuss Ch8Part3 here

The last two paragraphs deal with time sensitive material that is now out of date.  The "as we prepare to weather Y2K . . ." line definitely needs to go.  The question I have is whether that entire paragraph should be re-thought.  I think one of the more interesting developments in the past decade, as a potential replacement for the Windows 95 example, is to point out how the level of both proprietary and open code "application space" programs have flourished.  Also, should we be pointing out the move towards true Internet application spaces?  Web based e-mail programs, web maps, flash based games, .Net / Mono . . ., where are these applications taking us in the next decade?
